Bridge, Duplicate - Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 PM in Ocotillo room. Players need to bring a partner. Dues are $3 per year and the cost per session is $.50 cents, which is all paid out in prize money each session. Sign up is not required. New players are always welcome. Rummikub – Tuesday mornings - Play starts at 10 AM in the Ocotillo room. Please join this friendly group. Individual scores are not kept and no dues are charged. Players are encouraged to play with different people each week. Rummikub rules are easy to learn, however the development of skill evolves with time and practice, which keeps devotees coming back as often as possible. EXERCISE & HEALTH

Fitness - Gentle StretchClasses begin again September 7, 2019. Saturdays, Oakwood room from 7:30-8:30 AM, $3.00 pp. Start your day with a gentle stretch and improve full body flexibility. Certified instructor can assist all capability levels; improve your full-body flexibility for optimal mobility, strength, and balance. Fitness – Gentle YogaClasses are suspended until further notice.

Water Aerobic Exercise – Monday through Friday, we have three (3) classes. The south pool offers a 7:50 AM medium impact water aerobics and 9 AM low impact water aerobics. Bocce – Bocce courts are available to all residents and their guests. Courts are open until 9:00 PM. Practice balls are in the closet just north of the courts. Please return equipment to the closet and turn off the lights when leaving. Open play with instructors available is at 6:30 PM Monday thru Thursday. We welcome all newcomers! Pickleball - A second matching gift campaign is underway. A generous SVE anonymous donor has once again offered to match cash donations up to $10,000. Please contact Marilyn Castens at 618-204-1828 to make a donation or for further information. Thank you to all the SVE owners and residents for helping to move the court construction forward. Pickleball Club lessons, round robins and other club play time have been suspended for the summer. The courts are now available for SVE resident open play beginning at 8:00a.m. Guests MUST be accompanied by an SVE resident. No food or drink is allowed on the courts, except for water. Please adhere to other court use guidelines as posted on the courts and the bulletin board. The courts are for use for pickleball, volleyball, and basketball. HOA provided pickleball paddles are available in the equipment room on the northeast corner of the outside wall of the south pool. Please return the paddles to the equipment room when done playing. Softball Club – Our Softball Leagues are all done for the winter season. Our “summer” Tuesday/ Thursday pick-up games begin at 6:30 am. All levels of players are invited to come down to the ball field and play some softball. Any questions call Mick Borton 480-968-8104.

Tennis Club – The SVE tennis club is looking for anyone interested in playing tennis here at SVE. It doesn't matter if you are an experienced player, a "Rusty Racket" looking to get back into the game or if you are a beginner looking to learn how to play. Volleyball – Water, North Pool – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (June through September from 7 to 9 PM; October through May from 2 to 4 PM) weather and number of players permitting. Martial Arts Arms Collectors Group - On recess for the summer and will resume in the Fall. Meetings are on the third Thursday of the month at 4 PM and held at 7820 E. Bingo – Bingo plays most every Sunday except Easter in the auditorium. Doors open at 3:30 PM. Snack bar opens at 4:30 PM. Bingo starts at 6 PM. No person under the age of 18 may purchase packets, play games or claim prizes. Prize money will vary during the year based on attendance. Sunland Village East Bingo is played in accordance with the Arizona State Revenue rules and regulations, which are available on the premises along with the prominent display of the SVE Bingo license. Village Chapel - The Village Chapel is a non-denominational ministry that exists to serve SVE residents and the surrounding community. For almost 30 years the chapel has been providing weekly worship services, seasonal Bible Studies and daily prayer and support for the ill and those grieving the loss of loved ones. We meet every Sunday at 9 AM in the SVE Auditorium. During the winter months we also meet at 6 PM on Tuesday evenings in the Oakwood Room. Whether you live in SVE or elsewhere, you are welcome to attend. For worshipers unable to attend Sunday services, viewing of the service is available via a streaming service. Computer ClubSummer Schedule: Meetings will be held in the Training Facility, located in the north complex, from 9 to 10 AM on Monday, August 12th and August 26th. Bring your Laptop, Tablet (android) or Cell Phone (android). We will try to solve problems within the group. Visit our Club’s newsletter by clicking HERE for complete schedule. Fall/winter meetings are in the Mesa Verde room at 9 AM every Monday for “Questions and Answers with Joe”, followed at 10:15 AM with a special class or presentation. Computer Club Fix-It Tuesdays Throughout the summer months, Fix-It Tuesday will be the Tuesday following the summer meeting (see schedule above) in the Computer Training Center (North Complex), and is open to all SVE residents. There is a small fee for repairs. For a laptop, be sure to bring your power cord. Bring just the tower if your computer is a desktop model. Computer Club MAC GroupThe Mac group, during the summer months, will meet in the computer training facility (north complex) from 1 to 3 PM on the 2nd Monday of each Month: August 12th. Veterans ClubOn recess until October. The Veterans Club meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month. The Auditorium doors open at 4:30 PM, a potluck dinner starts at 5:00 PM. Please bring a dish that serves 10-12 people. The business meeting starts immediately after dinner. At the end of our meeting we have a speaker or entertainment. Dues are $15 per veteran and $15 per spouse. All veterans from all branches of the Armed Forces (U.S. & Canadian) (SVE residents & non-residents) are welcome to join the club. Village SingersOn summer recess until October. Meet Tuesdays in the Mesa Verde room. If you like to sing, please come join us. For further information, call Peggy Dronen, 612-616-0281.

Wood Carvers – Meet in the Arts & Crafts room from 12:30 to 3-4 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The coffee pot is always on. We have instructors in chip carving, relief, birds, Kachina and other types of carving. Come check us out, even if you have never picked up a knife to carve something other than a turkey. Wood ShopSummer hours. The Woodshop will be open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon provided there is at least one monitor present. If there is no activity, the woodshop may close earlier than noon.

he Wood Shop is offering a class titled “An Introduction to Woodworking” The class consists of 6 sessions held at wood shop on August 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15; starting at 1:15 pm to 3:45 pm. This class is aimed at people with little or no prior woodworking experience. Cost: $10 – covers all materials. Class members will make a small (3x5”) mantle clock.
